Trauma Therapy for Young People
Young people experiencing trauma often struggle with overwhelming emotions, anxiety, and distress that can impact their daily lives, relationships, development and education. Trauma, whether caused by adverse childhood experiences, loss, violence, or other significant events, can shape how a young person sees themselves and the world around them. Providing effective, compassionate, and age-appropriate trauma therapy is essential in helping them heal, regain a sense of safety, and build resilience.
Our trauma therapy services are designed specifically for young people, offering a safe, supportive environment where they can process their experiences at their own pace. Using evidence-based approaches we help young individuals reduce distressing symptoms, improve emotional regulation, and develop coping strategies.
By fostering a space of trust, understanding, and professional guidance, we empower young people to move beyond trauma and embrace a healthier, more hopeful future.
Children’s Accelerated Trauma Technique (CATT)
Children’s Accelerated Trauma Technique (CATT) is an evidence-based, structured therapeutic intervention designed to support children and young people who have experienced trauma. CATT integrates trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) with creative storytelling and structured exposure techniques, allowing children to process traumatic memories in a safe and developmentally appropriate manner.
This approach is particularly effective for children who may struggle to verbalise their experiences, utilising drawing, narration, and gradual exposure to help them reframe distressing memories and reduce symptoms of(PTSD), anxiety, and emotional dysregulation.
Trauma Focused CBT for Young People and Families (TF-CBT)
TF-CBT is an evidence-based therapy designed to help children, adolescents, and their families recover from trauma. It combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with gradual exposure and coping strategies to reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. TF-CBT also involves caregivers, providing them with tools to support their child’s healing. This structured approach helps young people process traumatic experiences, build resilience, and develop healthy emotional and behavioral responses.
EMDR
EMDR is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps young people process and heal from traumatic experiences. Using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR allows the brain to reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional impact. This approach helps children and adolescents develop healthier coping mechanisms, decrease anxiety, and build resilience, enabling them to move forward with greater confidence and emotional well-being.
KIDSNET (Narrative Exposure)
KIDSNET is a structured, evidence-based therapy designed to help children and young people process and heal from traumatic experiences. Based on Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), it helps young individuals create a structured life story, integrating traumatic memories into a cohesive narrative. Through storytelling, guided reflection, and emotional processing, KIDSNET reduces distress, fosters resilience, and supports recovery from PTSD, anxiety, and trauma-related difficulties.
